Fingertip Gloves ver 2.0
Ever since I modified these gloves, I've felt they still needed improvement. As someone who doesn't know how to knit (yet), I'm still searching for how to make The Perfect Texting Glove.
On those first gloves, I cut some fingers too low, leaving too much bare finger exposed. I made a second pair, where I cut the fingertips higher, and those were great--until it got too cold out and I realised I had nowhere to hide my fingertips!
My latest idea is to cut a little slit in the finger, so I can poke my fingertip through, and pull it back if it's too cold. I'm using conductive fingertip gloves so I can still use the touchscreen, but can unlock my phone with the fingerprint scanner if I want. It's almost like my fingertips have hoodies!
Instructions after the break.

At first (light grey edging) I tried cutting the fingertip and then reinforcing. This made the slit bigger and sloppier than I wanted; when weaving in the ends, I used whipstitch to try to keep the opening tidier and prevent fraying. I might go over the reinforcement with a fuzzy haloed yarn.
On the second glove (blue), I used surface crochet before cutting the slit. This turned out much better! The margins were cleaner, the slit was narrower, and the whole thing felt better.

You can see the differences better when there's a hand inside:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Materials:
Gloves you want to modify
A thin yarn or thread for reinforcing the slit (I use Lang Jawoll Reinforcement Yarn)
A tiny crochet hook (I used 1.25 mm)
Embroidery scissors or seam ripper (something to making tiny, precise cuts)
Needle for weaving in ends (thinner than tapestry or embroidery needles)
Optional: method or marking the slit
Instructions:
Put on the glove and figure out where you want the slit to go. Generally it should fall at the finger joint or slightly higher. Mark its position.
Make a tiny incision in the middle of where you want the slit. Use embroidery scissors to snip one "leg" of the "V" the knitted yarn makes.
Using the reinforcement thread, make a slip knot on your crochet hook. Make sure to leave a long enough tail for weaving in (1.5 to 2 needle-lengths).
Use the tiny incision to begin surface crocheting (slip stitch through the fabric) around where you want the slit. You're drawing a perimeter.
After one round, do a second round of slip stitch, working in the back loop only (or however you wish).
Join and fasten off, leaving a long enough tail to weave in.
Take a deep breath.
Use the embroidery scissors or seam ripper to carefully, one stitch at a time, cut open the slit. I like to snip one leg of the "V", then pull out the second leg. I don't know if this is the best way, but it's how I do it.
Test the glove. If the slit needs widening or tightening, now is the time to do it.
When it fits nicely (like a glove, you might say), weave in your ends.
Text and unlock with impunity!

Crochet Texting Gloves Pattern + Tutorial
Crochet Fair Isle Texting Fingerless Gloves Crochet Texting Fair Isle Fingerless Gloves One of the best Crochet Fingerless Gloves I have ever crocheted. These fingerless gloves have fair isle techniques involved. Dropping and adding yarn colour strategically to create a simplistic design into the glove. Both gloves are the exact same pattern. There is no right or left version. Due to the size of…

headcanon that percy's most reoccurring nightmare about tartarus is the one where he loses annabeth to the pit. the one where he trips over the rogue lace of his left shoe and misses her fingers by centimeters. the one where his hands get clammy due to nerves and she slips out of his grasp. the one where they descend over the cliff together but he isn't strong enough to hold the weight of arachne. the one where she uses her knife to slice his palm and catch him off-guard so she can wiggle free. and the one where she's bleeding from the wound on her head. begging him not to tamper with fate. to let the prophecy play out. and a silent conversation passes between them. an 'i love you' and 'goodbye' in the same breath. and he stares into her eyes for what he knows is the last time and lets go. the one where he has to watch annabeth sacrifice herself to save the world.

generally i think tim is the kind of person who just saves contacts in his phone by name. kon meanwhile is the kind of person who HAS to have a fun name for everyone he loves. when they start dating, you know it's serious the day kon changes his own name in tim's phone to "babycakes 💖🔥" and tim rolls his eyes but doesn't change it back.

A doctor putting my legs in stirrups, and strapping them in. He assures me it's all a part of standard procedure. Right before he starts stretching my ass open with his fingers.
I squirm, and scream, but there's no escape. Nobody can hear me sob when he sinks his hard dick inside of me. Free to fuck my virgin hole until it bleeds, and then some.

I've been trying to find the perfect texting gloves: washable wool, with just the very tips open.
All the fingerless gloves I've seen in stores are too short--not enough finger coverage for me. I've used texting gloves with conductive tips, but now that I have a pure touchscreen phone (no physical keyboard), I'm realising how finicky the conductive tips are--the gloves don't fit me exactly.
I don't know how to knit, and crochet generally doesn't produce a stretchy enough fabric for gloves. There is a side-to-side construction that looks very promising, but I haven't tried it yet.
In the meantime, I've taken to modifying gloves I already own.
The yarn guage in machine-knit gloves is quite fine, probably lace-weight. I used a 1.5mm steel crochet hook and Jawoll Reinforcement Yarn.
Stabilising the cut knit took a while to figure out. Here's what I ended up doing (the best method I've found so far--could probably be improved though):
Identify where you want to cut the tip. You'll be cutting the "V"s.
Using embroidery scissors (sharp tip), snip the first leg off a V. Then tug the second leg to pull the yarn free.
Continue snipping the first leg of a V and tugging the second leg; until you reach the other side.
Using your new yarn: make a slip stitch and insert your hook (as if you were about to start chaining normally).
Now we surface-crochet around the opening, in a place where the fabric still looks stable enough to support crocheting (not the very top, I usually go 2 stitches from the very top):
Insert your hook in the middle of the "V". Yarn-over (inside the fabric), pull up a loop, pull through. Insert hook into the next V; yarn-over, pull up a loop, pull through. Repeat until you get to the beginning. Do not join with a slip stitch.
Now you'll have what looks like the surface (top) of a chain. We're going to work SC into these chains, decreasing every so often because SC is fatter than knit:
Insert hook between the legs of the surface chain, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through. I like to decrease every third stitch (ie: SC, SC, SC2tog). Do not join.
Continue another round of SC into the round you just made. I like to do 2 or 3 rounds of SC total.
Fasten off (I like the invisible join) and weave in ends.
(Once I find a method I'm happy with, I may make a proper tutorial with photos.)

Using my genuine interest in Theo's blood magic gem implantation to see how long I can 'examine' (hold) his hand before he bites me.
Hyden got to do this, although he was 100% genuinely interested in the magic gem implantation and not at all in the hand-holding.
Anyone else though... I doubt Theo would let them get so close a look at his hands, let alone the chance to touch them.

(Art by @chocodile, of course! You should read the prose she wrote to accompany it too, for additional insight.)

How did Stan manage to fool his family into thinking he was Ford for 30 years? Ok yes he definitely wasn't seeing them very often (if at all) but he have to had kept in contact (and be on good terms) for them to entrust the kids to stay with him for the summer. Did they forget that Ford had 6 fingers? Or did they not notice?
